•FUMED VENEER | ABOUT

A fumed veneer (also called smoked veneer) is a natural wood veneer that has undergone a special ammonia-fuming process to alter its color, tone, and depth, without using dyes or stains.

Fumed veneer is created by exposing certain wood species to ammonia gas inside a sealed chamber. The ammonia reacts with the natural tannins in the wood, causing a chemical darkening of the veneer throughout its thickness.

This process brings out rich brown, gray, or amber tones, enhancing the grain’s contrast and depth.

Common Species Used: White Oak / Eucalyptus / Red Gum / Larch / Aspen
