A Rough Cut veneer (also known as sawn cut veneer) is a decorative wood veneer that intentionally retains a saw-marked surface, giving it a more natural, rustic, and handcrafted appearance than standard smooth veneers.
Rough Cut veneer is produced by slicing the wood in a way that simulates the look of solid, rough-sawn lumber. Instead of the perfectly smooth surface typical of knife-cut veneers, this method leaves fine, shallow grooves or chatter marks, similar to those made by a saw blade.
It’s commonly used to bring depth and tactile character to architectural panels and furniture.
